#DH3332 - Mechanical Designer

Contract Position
Location: NW Suburb of Minneapolis, MN
Salary: DOQ

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
Plans and performs mechanical engineering design and redesign duties under the direction of a Project Engineer and coordinates system projects as designated. Establish processes and procedures for the design and development of products and systems. Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:

Two year vo-tech certificate in engineering/technical curriculum.
Five years drafting experience in design and assembly of small parts including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Five years CAD experience.
One year MRP experience.
Understanding of capabilities of lathe and milling machine type production equipment.
Understanding of electro-mechanical integration.
Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal/written) effectively with customers, suppliers and employees.
Demonstrated ability to work in a cooperative and team oriented environment as well as independently.
Demonstrated working knowledge in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

#DH3242 - Designer I

Direct Position
Location: St. Paul, MN

Primary Responsibilities:

Designs A/V installation projects and generates engineering quotes.
Constructs simple audiovisual systems and programming for control systems.
Creates standard drafting assignments, working plans, detailed drawings and complete mechanical and wiring diagrams from System Narratives.
Makes engineering computations, writes specifications and makes adjustments as necessary.
Generates equipment lists and wire labels.
Verifies completed sketches and confirms dimensions and materials needed for the installation project.
Maintains positive & productive relationships with A/V and System Integration industry colleagues and manufacturer representatives.

Other Responsibilities:

Responsible for maintaining current, up to date information regarding developments in the Audio/Visual industry.

Knowledge & Skills:

Knowledge of A/V Systems Integration processes and equipment.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
Some design and AutoCAD knowledge.
Thorough understanding of construction.
Excellent writing, keyboarding and communication skills.

Education & Work Experience:

Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with two years A/V industry experience.

NICET certification is required, preferable in Special Hazards Suppression Systems and/or Fire Alarm Systems.

Waste Water Facility Design Experience.

AutoCad 2007
Facility layout, corrugated steel room with handrails
Experience P&ID drawings
Electrical schematics
Systems side as well as the equipment design

Qualifications:

Two year Technical Drafting Degree or Certificate
Minimum five years drafting experience creating layout, fabrication, instrumentation, piping, and installation drawings for the wastewater industry
Detailed knowledge of piping layout, steel fabrication and weld symbols, structural members, and construction details
Must be able to create system project drawings incorporating this knowledge with minimal direction
Firm knowledge of drafting standards and practices, machining and manufacturing techniques, quality control requirements, and typical vendor equipment installation requirements.
